St. Mark School, nestled in the heart of Catonsville, Maryland, is more than just a place of education; it is a sanctuary of faith and community. With over 500 eager minds, this private Catholic school thrives in nurturing both academic and spiritual growth.
October 16th, dedicated faculty and staff embarked on a spiritual journey, a retreat that brought them closer to each other and their shared mission. Under the guidance of Mrs. Terry Ferro, the resilient principal, the St. Mark Lions set off on a day of faith, fellowship, and adventure. This year's retreat held a special surprise – a visit to Sharp’s Farm in Brookeville, Maryland.
The day began with a soul-soothing Mass, followed by Mrs. Ferro's inspiring words, igniting the staff's passion and sense of unity. They then went on a trip to Sharp's Farm, where the sprawling landscapes stretched as far as the eye could see.
All aboard the hayride, the faculty and staff explored the farm, immersing themselves in its rich history spanning over a century. Each bump on the rustic path revealed stories of generations working on the land.
The highlight of the day was when they paused for a special activity. The St. Mark school community was divided into houses, each named after a saint, fostering teamwork and living by the school's values. Pumpkins were to be picked and decorated to reflect their respective saints, bringing out the creativity in everyone.
As the saints' pumpkins found their homes, the rest indulged in personal pumpkin picking, relishing the autumn tradition.

"I really enjoy working for St. Mark School, and days like today make me appreciate it even more," remarked Ms. D, a 4th-grade teacher at the school stated as she was selecting her pumpkin to represent her house.

The day culminated in a visit to the farm shop, which offered fresh collards, kale, apples, and an array of preserves. Faculty and staff delighted in apple cider and cider donuts, savoring the flavors of the season.
With hearts full of unity and souls invigorated by faith, the faculty retreat of the other day concluded. Ms. Sharp's leadership had ensured that this day was not only full of fun but also left indelible memories in the hearts of St. Mark School's dedicated educators.
